A delegation led by First Deputy Minister of Defense – Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, has departed for Islamabad at the invitation of Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, MoD told APA.
During the official welcoming ceremony, Colonel General Karim Valiyev and Field Marshal Asim Munir reviewed the Guard of Honor in accordance with protocol. The national anthems of both countries were performed, and at the end of the ceremony, a wreath was laid at the Martyrs’ Monument.
Within the framework of the visit, the sides held extensive discussions on the current state and future prospects of cooperation between the defense ministries of Azerbaijan and Pakistan, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Colonel General Valiyev, on behalf of the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, congratulated Field Marshal Asim Munir and the personnel of the Pakistan Army on the occasion of “Independence Day” and their achievements in the “Victory of Truth” operation.
Subsequently, Field Marshal Asim Munir was presented with the “For Services in the Field of Military Cooperation” medal, awarded by the order of the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces will also participate in the military parade dedicated to “Independence Day” and the “Victory of Truth,” which will be held for the first time in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad.
