Ersin Tatar congratulates President Ilham Aliyev on historic step toward peace

The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ersin Tatar, has welcomed the results of the trilateral meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the United States held at the White House, APA reports.

The statement posted on the TRNC leader’s official website emphasized the significance of the talks in Washington.

He stated: “The historic Joint Declaration of Azerbaijan and Armenia paves the way for a phase of peace based on mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, renunciation of hostility, the creation of a climate of trust between peoples, and the establishment of diplomatic and trade relations.”

The TRNC President sincerely congratulated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the entire Azerbaijani people on this important step, and also positively assessed the political will demonstrated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in this process.

The leader of Northern Cyprus paid special attention to the restoration of communication between Azerbaijan’s western regions and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. “The ‘Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity’ (TRIPP) project, reflected in the Joint Declaration, will serve as a stimulus for the region’s economic development,” the statement highlighted.

The politician also touched on the importance of the US lifting restrictions related to Azerbaijan, noting that Washington’s move will create new opportunities for both Azerbaijan-US relations and the economic development of the South Caucasus. He added: “Cooperation based on mutual respect and equality is undoubtedly the key to maintaining long-term peace and stability.”
