The Commission against Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) has issued a statement regarding the information campaign being carried out against Azerbaijan, APA reports.
The statement notes that the Commission against Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan observes that unfriendly activities against Azerbaijan, originating from the territory of one of the neighboring states, are still ongoing through the social media platform Facebook.
Specifically, through several pages (“Echo of Baku,” “Azeri Horizon,” “Xəbər24,” “Merry you,” “Azerbaijan Pulse,” “Az insight,” etc.), targeted attempts at interference in the information space of the Republic of Azerbaijan are being made via the mentioned platform, aiming to mislead public opinion in Azerbaijan and to cast a shadow on the successful domestic and foreign policy conducted by the state.
"After the dissemination of geopolitically manipulative content in the Azerbaijani language on Facebook, users are prompted to follow links to platforms such as “Telegra.ph,” which, in turn, can lead to the capture of various user data (IP address, device used, etc.).
We inform our citizens that appropriate measures are constantly being taken in coordination with relevant state institutions to counter such information operations. At the same time, we should note that as a result of appeals made to the Meta company, the closure of the aforementioned pages operating against Azerbaijan has been achieved.
The Commission against Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats urges our citizens to remain vigilant, not to believe such information, and regularly informs the public about the hybrid threat methods and tools used against our country," the statement reads.
