Russian strikes kill 16 people in Kyiv, including two children-UPDATED-5-VIDEO

Russia launched waves of missiles and drones on Kyiv before dawn on Thursday, killing 16 people including two children, and wounding well over 100 others, officials in the Ukrainian capital said, APA reports citing Reuters.

Ukraine's national rescue service said the toll rose to 16 after another body had been retrieved from underneath rubble.

Zelenskyy said dozens remained in hospital.

The rescue service said 16 of the injured were children, the largest number of children hurt in a single attack on the city since Russia started its full-scale invasion almost 3-1/2 years ago.

The number of people killed in Russia's combined missile and drone attack on Kyiv has risen to 15, Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, announced this on Telegram, APA reports citing Ukrinform.

"Information has come in confirming a 15th fatality. Unfortunately, the worst fears regarding those trapped under the rubble are being confirmed," he said.

The death toll in Kyiv following the massive and combined attack that took place on July 31 has risen to 11 people, including one child, according to the press service of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMBA), APA reports citing RBC Ukraine.

The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Timur Tkachenko revealed that 124 people were injured and 8 people were killed as a result of the Russian attack.

One of the dead and 10 of the injured are children.

"The wounded are being provided with necessary assistance. The rescue operation is ongoing," Tkachenko said.
