Mine Action Agency of The Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) has issued a call to citizens regarding the fires occurring in the territories liberated from occupation, ANAMA's Press Service told APA.
It was noted that there has been an increase in recreational and visit-related trips by citizens to the liberated territories, as well as a rise in the number of residents participating in the return process:
"For this reason, the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) calls on citizens to strictly follow fire safety rules while in the liberated territories. They are urged to exercise caution when using open flames and to refrain from discarding cigarette butts on the ground.
In the event of a potential large-scale fire, mines and other explosive devices left behind in those areas may be triggered by the heat, posing a serious threat to any person or people nearby.
At the same time, it should be noted that, according to International Mine Action Standards, there is a procedure known as burning operations for areas where artificial obstacles and fortifications, as well as natural vegetation, cannot be cleared using any other resources. However, such activities are not carried out by ANAMA.
In case of encountering fire or mine hazards in the liberated territories, it is recommended to immediately contact 805, 102, or 112."
