On July 9, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, APA reports.
During the conversation, the sides emphasized the strategic partnership nature of Azerbaijan–UAE relations based on friendship and brotherhood, the high level of political ties, and the growing economic and trade cooperation.
Both leaders fondly recalled their reciprocal visits earlier this year — President Aliyev’s visit to the UAE in January and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s visit to Azerbaijan — noting that those trips included extensive discussions on the bilateral agenda across various sectors.
The meeting exchanged views on bilateral relations, noted the successful cooperation between the countries in the field of energy, including renewable energy, and discussed promising projects in this direction.
Satisfaction was expressed with ongoing cooperation between SOCAR and ADNOC, as well as between Azerbaijan and Masdar in the renewable energy sphere.
The importance of the ECO Summit recently held in Azerbaijan’s city of Khankendi was also highlighted, and the UAE’s high-level participation in the event was appreciated.
Then, with the participation of the Presidents, the "Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates" was signed.
At the end of the meeting, President Ilham Aliyev presented a commemorative gift to the President of the United Arab Emirates.
