A court hearing is underway regarding the individuals detained following the search and investigative operations conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) at the Baku office of the Rossiya Segodnya Information Agency (“Sputnik Azerbaijan”), APA reports.
The Khatai District Court is reviewing motions on the application of pre-trial detention measures against them.
By court decision, the Executive Director of “Sputnik Azerbaijan,” Igor Kartavykh, and Chief Editor Yevgeny Belousov have been placed under four months of pre-trial detention.
They have been charged charged under Articles 178.3.1, 192.2.2, 192.2.3, 193-1.3.1, 193-1.3.2 of the Criminal Code.

A submission has been filed with the court regarding those detained in the operational-search activities carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) at the Baku branch of the Rossiya Segodnya Information Agency (“Sputnik Azerbaijan”), APA reports.
The submission will be reviewed by the Khatai District Court.
Note that during the MIA's operational-search activities at the Baku branch of Rossiya Segodnya Information Agency (“Sputnik Azerbaijan”), seven individuals were detained. A criminal case was initiated under articles of the Criminal Code concerning fraud, illegal entrepreneurship, and legalization of property obtained through criminal means. Two individuals were arrested, and five others have been held criminally liable.
Investigative activities are ongoing in the criminal case.
Yesterday, the Executive Director, Igor Kartavikh, and Chief Editor Yevgeniy Belousov of the Baku branch of the Rossiya Segodnya Information Agency (“Sputnik Azerbaijan”) were detained.
