Azerbaijan finds and seizes more than 207 kilograms of drugs from vehicle passing cargo from Iran to Russia

As a result of the measures taken by the employees of the Astara Customs Department, discovered and seized 207 kilograms of narcotic substances, Press and Public Relations Department of the State Customs Committee told APA.

It was reported that a vehicle carrying a cargo of "fresh watermelons" from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation by passing through the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan was inspected by the Astara Customs Department. During the inspection conducted on a stationary X-ray device, suspicious features were observed on the cargo.

During the thorough inspection, a canine service dog reacted to 16 pallets and 64 packages hidden from customs control under the watermelon cargo on those pallets, with a total weight of 207 kilograms 620 grams of narcotics - marijuana, were discovered.

An investigation into the fact is underway.
