“Throughout WUF13, Azerbaijan shared its experience in sustainable urban development, the organization of national urban forums, as well as the large-scale reconstruction and revival efforts carried out in the liberated regions of Karabakh and East Zangezur,” Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture and National Coordinator of WUF13 Anar Guliyev said this during the closing ceremony of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), APA reports.
He stated that those territories were subjected to urbicide, ecocide, and culturicide during the occupation period.
“The reconstruction process being implemented in these territories is unprecedented in scale and can serve as an example for other post-conflict situations. Using its own financial resources and national potential, the country is ensuring the safe and dignified return of internally displaced persons to their native lands within the framework of the Great Return Program. Currently, plans for approximately 110 cities, settlements, and villages have already been approved, while plans for other residential areas are still under development,” he noted.
