Pashinyan rules out rise in Russian gas prices for Armenia

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has dismissed the possibility of an increase in the price of Russian gas for Armenia despite growing tensions between Yerevan and Moscow, Olaylar informs.

Speaking at a press conference streamed on his Facebook page, Pashinyan said such a move was impossible because the two countries already have a valid agreement in place.

"There can be no such thing, because we have a contract in force and it is mutually beneficial," he stated in response to a question about a potential gas price hike.

According to the prime minister, Yerevan and Moscow have "clear strategic agreements" regarding gas prices, and both sides are expected to comply with them.

Pashinyan also commented on Russiachr("39")s temporary restrictions on flower imports from Armenia.

He noted that similar measures are not unusual within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, as products failing to meet phytosanitary standards often face limitations.

"Restrictions on flowers have always existed because any product that does not comply with the phytosanitary regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union faces restrictions. There have been dozens of such cases throughout the year, not only involving flowers but other products as well," he said.

Earlier, Russian agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor announced temporary restrictions on flower imports from Armenia starting May 22. The agency said the decision was aimed at protecting Russiachr("39")s phytosanitary safety and export potential.
