Vice rector: Compatibility between IDPs’ skills and job opportunities must be ensured

Large-scale reconstruction works are currently being carried out in the liberated territories, and new cities and villages are being built, Fariz Ismayilzada, Vice Rector of ADA University, said during the roundtable titled “Academia and Research” held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, APA reports.

“One of the most important issues for us in this process is how to return people to their native lands and where to obtain reliable data regarding their economic activity, family structure, professional skills and education level,” Fariz Ismayilzada noted.

According to him, approximately 80,000 former internally displaced persons have already returned to their native lands.

“They are already living, studying and working there. Since the previous villages and cities were destroyed, new communities are effectively being built from scratch. When creating such new communities, the main challenge is how these settlements should be planned and how compatibility between the economic skills of internally displaced persons and available job opportunities can be ensured. Because some of these people previously lived in urban areas, while others lived in rural areas,” Fariz Ismayilzada emphasized.
