Baku–Tbilisi trains to feature restaurant, multimedia and shower cabins

Passengers on the new trains that will operate on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku route will be provided services in three classes: “Luxury,” “Comfort Plus” and “Comfort," Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, head of the public relations department of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC told journalists, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, the initial trips will consist of six carriages: “One of them is a restaurant carriage, three are ‘Comfort’ carriages, while the others are ‘Luxury’ and ‘Comfort Plus’ carriages. The total passenger capacity of the trains will be 118 people,” he noted.

Bakhtiyar Hajiyev emphasized that meals are not included in the ticket price: “However, each passenger may bring food with them and eat it in their compartment. In addition, passengers can order and eat food for an additional fee in the restaurant carriage on the train. Ticket prices include special travel packages for passengers according to their class. The packages include hygiene products, dry and wet wipes, shampoo, shower gel and other necessary items. In addition, the trains are equipped with televisions, multimedia services and sanitary facilities, while ‘Luxury’ compartments have separate sanitary units and shower cabins for each compartment. The trains are also equipped with a Wi-Fi system, and passengers will be able to use the internet during the journey,” he noted.

The ADY official also stated that the first train will depart from Baku at 23:10 on May 25 and arrive in Tbilisi at 08:41 the next day. In the opposite direction, the train will depart from Tbilisi every day at 21:00 and arrive in Baku at 06:24.
