Relations between Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan are very old and long-term, Hasan Alattas, an official of the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program, said during the event titled “Designing Development Programs in Conflict Zones” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.
He noted that through the Saudi Development Fund, Saudi Arabia has implemented many projects in Azerbaijan, including water supply, healthcare and road infrastructure: “Our energy minister visited Azerbaijan during the COVID-19 period. There are strong ties and coordination between the two countries. Last year, both countries agreed to further develop cooperation.”
He pointed out that one of the areas to be developed in cooperation with Azerbaijan will be tourism: “A large number of Saudi tourists come to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is a very beautiful and safe country. The people are very hospitable. Your country is very beautiful. The number of tourists coming from Saudi Arabia is increasing, and this is not limited only to Saudi Arabia — the flow of tourists from all Gulf countries is growing. This is a very positive situation for Azerbaijan’s economy.”
