The signing ceremony took place in Baku on May 18, 2026, with the participation of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of the signed documents in terms of expanding cooperation, particularly highlighting the significant role of Azerbaijan and Georgia as connectivity hubs for many countries and the importance of further deepening cooperation in this direction.

The signed documents include intergovernmental agreements on the supply of natural gas to Georgia, the continuation of transit agreements for the additional supply of Azerbaijani natural gas to international markets, the supply of electricity to Georgia and the transit of electricity to Türkiye through Georgian territory, as well as the Protocol of the Coordination Council confirming the final acceptance and completion of modernization works carried out within the framework of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project.

The Protocol of the Coordination Council also formalized the transfer of the relevant railway infrastructure to the BTKI Railways LLC Joint Venture to oversee the management of the railway line, which is an important step toward strengthening regional connectivity.
