"We must find ways to adapt to climate change," Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan, said during the press conference dedicated to the opening ceremony of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Olaylar informs.
Guliyev noted that even the first day of WUF13 saw unusual weather conditions, which he described as a clear sign of climate change.
"Currently, the 10‑year implementation of the New Urban Agenda is being evaluated. At the same time, we must look ahead to the next decade. Therefore, I believe we can begin to speak about a New Urban and Climate Agenda for the next 10 years," he said.
The chairman added a personal observation: "To be honest, as someone who grew up in Baku, I have never seen this much rain in May. This is not natural. But it is the reality we face. That is why such discussions and forums are so important."
