In a statement posted on X, U.S. Central Command said the Tripoli has not been attacked and “continues to sail in the Arabian Sea in support of Operation Epic Fury,” APA reports.
The ship carries about 3,500 sailors and marines and serves as the flagship for the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group, which arrived in the Middle East on March 27 as the Trump administration deployed more troops to the region.
The denial comes after Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported the ship was targeted by strikes from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp, forcing it to retreat.
