Official Baku's position on the inadmissibility of using Karabakh for political speculation has been brought to Russia's attention.

During and after the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Moscow on April 1, Russian officials raised issues related to Azerbaijan's purely internal affairs in public discussions.

According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry to APA , our position on the inadmissibility of using the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan for political speculation and our expectations for its cessation have been brought to the attention of the Russian Presidential Administration, the Government, and the Foreign Ministry through diplomatic channels.

"Despite this, the topic continues to be in the official political discourse of the Russian side. Thus, today, in an interview with the Vesti channel, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, while expressing his position on Armenian-Russian relations, once again commented on whether the Karabakh region was recognized as part of Azerbaijan first by Russia or Armenia."

The fact that the Karabakh region is an integral part of Azerbaijan is not based on the decision of any state, but on history, international law and justice. This was once again confirmed and fully established as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War of 2020 and the 1-day anti-terrorist measures of 2023.

We would like to remind the Russian side once again that no country, including the Russian Federation, has ever questioned the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, including the Karabakh region.

"We once again bring to the attention of the Russian side our expectations that issues related to Azerbaijan's sovereignty will not become a subject of clarification of relations on the public level at a time when Russian-Armenian relations are not simple," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
