"Turkmenistan proposes reviving the Silk Road, of which the Middle Corridor will also be a part," said Nokerguly Ataguliyev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, during his speech at the meeting of prime ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) member countries in Baku, APA reports.
“The revival of the ancient Silk Road in a new format, integrated with modern transport and logistics infrastructure, will create additional economic opportunities for the countries of the region,” he said.
Ataguliyev noted that existing corridors should be used more efficiently to expand transit and logistics capabilities in the region. He particularly emphasized the importance of the Middle Corridor and highlighted the need for coordination of routes:
“The coordination of the Caspian–Black Sea route, the Central Asia–Middle East direction, and the East–West transport corridor will increase trade turnover and expand access to new markets.”
The speech also noted that Turkmenistan is ready to actively participate in joint projects in the field of transport and logistics and supports deepening regional cooperation in this direction:
“By fully utilizing our transit potential, it is possible to increase cargo volumes and make routes more efficient.”
