Did Azerbaijan import edible pork flour from the UAE? – Updated


On January 5, 2026, the news website Yeniavaz.com published a news titled "Azerbaijan imported edible pork flour from the UAE".
Following the publication of the story, Ilkin Karimov, head of the press service of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency, contacted our editorial team and stated that the information was inaccurate. Ilkin Karimov noted that the imported product was pork, not pork flour.
For your information, the news titled "Azerbaijan imported edible pork flour from the UAE", published on Yeniavaz.com, was prepared based on data contained in the import and export indicators published by the State Statistical Committee.
It should also be noted that the customs code for the product "Food flour from pork, thighs, backs, and bones" included in the figures announced by the State Statistical Committee is "021011," and this code and product name have remained unchanged in all import and export figures announced by the Committee to date.

Following a request from the head of the AQTA press service to Yeniavaz.com, we contacted the State Statistical Committee. The Committee stated that the product coded "021011" should be understood as "Salted, dried, or smoked pork hams, shoulders, and parts thereof."
The State Statistical Committee also announced that the corresponding adjustments to the import and export figures will be made within the day.

In the first 10 months of last year, Azerbaijan imported approximately 50 kilograms of pork and bone meal.
According to Yeniavaz.com, citing official data, the average customs value of one kilogram of this flour imported from abroad was $21.4 (36.4 manat).
It should also be noted that in the first 10 months of last year, Azerbaijan imported this flour from four countries:
United Arab Emirates – approximately 10 kg (3 USD)
Germany – approximately 30 kg (26.7 USD)
Italy – approximately 10 kg (11 USD)
Portugal – approximately 10 kg (13 USD)
