On September 16, Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, viewed the monuments to prominent personalities of Azerbaijan such as Natavan, Bulbul and Uzeyir Hajibayli, which were shot at by Armenians in Shusha during the occupation.
The President of the United Arab Emirates was informed that during the Armenian occupation, the Armenians attempted to take these statues to Armenia to melt them down. As a result of the intervention by the National Leader, Heydar Aliyev, the statues were retrieved from Armenia and brought to our country. After being kept for a while in the courtyard of the Art Museum in Baku, the statues were returned to their original locations following the liberation of Shusha from occupation.
