Ongoing trials: Khojaly genocide survivor testifies about death of siblings

 

The trials held at the Baku Military Court continued on July 10 with the testimonies of persons who suffered as a result of the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenian armed forces in the past.

Vugar Eminov, stated in his testimony that he was captured on April 25, 1994, in the village of Gulluja in the Aghdam district, and during his captivity, he was held in Shusha prison and in a special regime isolation facility in Khankendi. He said that during captivity, he and other Azerbaijani prisoners and hostages were subjected to torture, beaten with rebar and other heavy objects, and electric current was applied to their bodies.

He was taken to the village of Aghbulag in the Khojavand region to work together with other Azerbaijani prisoners and hostages, and on October 9, 1995, he escaped from there with Azerbaijani prisoners-hostages named Gadir and Bayram. On October 22, he escaped captivity by crossing into territories under the control of the Azerbaijani military.

A victim, Imran Guliyev, stated in his testimony that on the night of February 25-26, 1992, Armenians began to fire at and burn Khojaly with heavy armored vehicles and weapons, and during the genocide, his brother Zakir and sister Zohra were killed. He said that the enemy did not allow him to take his sister Zohrachr("39")s body. He was able to retrieve his sisterchr("39")s body three days later. His brother is still missing. I. Guliyev himself was also wounded.
