About 6,000 former IDPs to return to Azerbaijan's Khojaly and Aghdara this year

According to this year’s resettlement plan, construction and restoration works are being carried out in 16 settlements across Aghdara and Khojaly districts, said Sabuhi Gahramanov, Deputy Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Khankendi city and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, during the 9th meeting of the heads of diplomatic service bodies held in Khankendi, the Public Relations Department of the Restoration, Construction, and Management Service in Khankendi city and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts told APA.

According to Sabuhi Gahramanov, based on the 2025 resettlement plan, reconstruction will be completed in 8 villages of Khojaly (Ballija, Khanyurdu, Tazabina, Dashbulag, Badara, Seyidbeyli, Khanabad, and Shushakand) and 8 villages of Aghdara (Hasanriz, Vangli, Kolatag, Childiran, Heyvali, Damirli, Chapar, and Ashaghi Oratagh), after which the gradual return of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) to these villages will begin.

Approximately 6,000 former IDPs are expected to voluntarily return to their ancestral lands.

Gahramanov also recalled that the return of some former IDPs to Khojaly city, Ballija village, and the villages of Sugovushan, Hasanriz, and Talish in the Aghdara district has already been ensured.
