“I express my deep gratitude to the government and people of Azerbaijan for the warm hospitality shown to us,” Asad Majeed Khan, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization, told journalists in Aghdam, APA reports.
Asad Majeed Khan said that they highly appreciate Azerbaijan’s significant and valuable contributions to the organization’s work in uniting the region, promoting development, and prosperity: “I would especially like to emphasize that holding this summit in Karabakh – in Aghdam – carries important political and moral significance. Additionally, within the framework of the ECO Week, initiated and led by President Ilham Aliyev, a number of events will be organized – the Youth Forum, Women’s Forum, and Business Forum. Through these events, we will bring together the youth of the region, empower the role of women, and discuss prospects for economic cooperation. These forums are important platforms for listening to the views of stakeholders and incorporating them into our common agenda in preparing the ECO’s strategic vision for the coming decade. At the same time, I must note that this Summit coincides with a sensitive and difficult period for the region. In this regard, the summit is an important opportunity to demonstrate solidarity among member states and to take joint steps for the development and progress of the region.”
