Azerbaijan and Kenya held discussions on extradition and legal assistance

The working trip of Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev to Kenya continues, APA reports citing the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to the information, the delegation led by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kamran Aliyev, is on a working trip in Nairobi at the invitation of his Kenyan counterpart Renson Ingonga.

On June 8, the President of the Republic of Kenya, William Ruto received the delegation.

Kamran Aliyev expressing his gratitude for the high hospitality and sincere reception conveyed President Ilham Aliyev’s regards to the President of Kenya.

President Ruto, in turn, expressing his thanks for the greetings from our Head of State requested to convey his greetings to the President of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the dynamically developing relations between Azerbaijan and Kenya in various fields, including law enforcement agencies.

Later, Kamran Aliyev held a bilateral meeting with the Director of the Kenyan State Prosecution, Renson Ingonga. The Prosecutor General emphasized that the relations between the two countries have successfully developed in recent years based on principles of friendship and mutual respect, as well as the political will and efforts of the country leaders.

During the meeting, Renson Ingonga expressing his satisfaction with the upward development of inter-agency partnership relations noted his three working trips to Azerbaijan last year. Ingonga also specially highlighting the high-level organization of the 29th Annual Conference of the International Association of Prosecutors, as well as the plenary session dedicated to mobilizing law enforcement agencies in combating climate change within the framework of COP29, congratulated the Azerbaijani state and prosecution. During his visit to Azerbaijan, he mentioned that his visit to the Agdam district left a deep impression on him due to the atrocities committed by Armenia during the occupation period, as well as the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works currently underway.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on expanding cooperation in the legal field, the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Baku in 2024, the application of artificial intelligence, combating crime, drafting an extradition and legal assistance agreement, and mutual training visits.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the country to the Republic of Kenya, Sultan Hajiyev, participated in the meetings.

On the same day, both Prosecutors General, Kamran Aliyev and Renson Ingonga, visiting the newly opened Embassy of our country in Kenya, laid flowers in front of the bust of our National Leader Heydar Aliyev, and respectfully commemorated the great personality’s precious memory. Later, a meeting was held with the embassy staff, and success in their activities was wished.

The working trip of the Azerbaijani delegation to Kenya is ongoing.
