The US does not rule out the possibility of carrying out a preventive military operation against Iran, US Secretary of State and National Security Advisor to the President Marco Rubio spoke about this at a hearing held at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, APA reports.
According to Rubio, such a step could serve to prevent a potential attack, but it does not mean that it will definitely happen.
He also stressed that the US hopes that this scenario will not come true.
The Secretary of State noted that Washington currently intends to increase its military presence in the Middle East, taking into account the risks posed by Iran.
According to him, by deploying forces in the region, the US demonstrates its ability to protect its personnel and facilities from possible Iranian threats.
