I thank Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for his efforts in combating climate change, said Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) at the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), APA's correspondent dispatched to Khankendi reports.
The UN Deputy Secretary-General stated that ECO member countries are warming at a rate faster than the global average: “Regional cooperation must be strengthened to combat the intensifying climate change.”
Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana noted that ECO members are also UNESCAP members: "The 82nd session of UNESCAP will be held in Baku in April 2026. I invite ECO members to the event to be held in Baku. I would like to express my special gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan for organizing this event."
